About Us

The Pierce County Library Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, has raised more than $12M since 1970 to invest in literacy and library resources, digital tools and technology, and areas of greatest need at the Pierce County Library System.

We believe in the power of literacy, knowledge, and community. Every contribution to the Pierce County Library Foundation helps create opportunities for individuals to embrace learning, define their future, and positively impact our communities.

How We Are Different From the Friends of the Library

The Foundation engages with individual, foundation, and corporate donors to raise funds to support Library programs. Gifts from donors build the library's collections, fund the purchase of giveaway books, and strengthen library programs and services for the benefit of the Pierce County Library System community.

Friends of the Library groups are member-supported, nonprofit organizations that support library services in their local communities. These community members advocate for their library and raise support and awareness through book sales and other activities.
